I am from the West Midlands. I was born in Bromsgrove, grew up in Birmingham, Kidderminster and Bewdley, worked in the Safari Park and local pubs and went to Bewdley High School and Sixth Form.
My granddad, who migrated to the UK from Jamaica, was a bus driver all his working life for Midland Red. My grandmothers (two fiercely strong women - one from England, another from Italy) worked hard in West Midlands care homes for the disabled and elderly. My dad has worked for charities and public bodies in the West Midlands, and my mum is a local self-employed artist.
