The Bedroom Tax is having a devastating impact on people all over the country. I recently wrote to the Solihull News and Solihull Observer to state the following:
"The Bedroom Tax is a complete disaster. Not only does it mainly affect people already in work and on unfairly low wages or with disabilities, but it often causes the tax payer more money in housing benefit by forcing people into expensive private rent. Now I am appalled to here that the Department for Work & Pensions has wrongly subjected many people in poverty to the Bedroom Tax by mistake, leading to the extremely sad case of Stephanie Bottrill.
I have been in contact with Chris Bryant MP's (Shadow Minister for Welfare Reform) office in parliament to raise the issue, and I urge the DWP to think hard about how it will compensate people for its incompetent mistakes."
