Economy of Social Enterprise

Imagine an economy where the vast majority of companies gave significant amounts back to the community or operated with the main intention of improving communities.

Imagine an economy where companies weren't mainly focussed on excessive profits but we're interested in reinvesting large amounts to improve society rather than making wealthy shareholders wealthier.

Imagine an economy where the prestigious jobs in commerce were those where employees knew they were giving back to society when they helped a company succeed.

This is the essence of what Labour's Hazel Blears MP said in her speech the other day at the UK Social Enterprise Enterprise Awards 2014.

I left feeling excited about the modern vision of the UK's economy and as a Labour Party Parliamnetary Candidate, I back initiatives to promote this kind of economic growth.
